Trying Out an OST

I chose Joanna's OST, which is reducing my meat intake for a week because I always wanted to try being vegetarian. However, it never happened since I would always think it would be impossibly difficult, especially since my parents cook meat very often and I didn't want to force my parents to be vegetarian when they didn't want to. However, this OST seems more realistic to me. With this OST, I can make more realistic goals that I know I could reach like for example, not eating meat for breakfast. What also especially interested me was the information that she shared on her blog. I only knew the basics of climate change like how factories contribute a large amount to this problem, however, her blog gave me more insight into different causes of climate change. For example, I knew eating animal products was hurting wildlife, but for some reason, I never acknowledged the fact that the factories that create animal products are also a part of the factories that hurt the earth.

Thus, I tried it out. I spent a week trying to reduce my meat consumption. I knew I couldn't last days without meat so I decided to start small. Typically, I don't eat very much for breakfast. I might eat oatmeal or some rice so I found that it was easier for me to eat foods other than meat during breakfast. However, there are still times when I do eat meat during breakfast so I, therefore, made the goal to continue eating breakfast with no meat products. After the next few days, I tried extending it to lunch and breakfast. Although I did okay in the first few days, once I tried to be consistent with lunches, there were times when I just really didn't know what to eat other than the food that was prepared, which contained meat. Also, I found it really hard to stay away from meat after I worked out or ran for cross-country since meat was one of my go-to foods after workouts. Thus, there were times when I knew I couldn't stay away from meat for those meals. However, in the end, I was still proud. Even though I didn't go entire days without eating meat, I still made an impact on the world because I was still able to reduce my meat intake. Starting small and building your way up is one of the best ways to go and I can definitely see myself continuing this.
